Operating and Visitor Rules for Via Ferrata
Operating and Visitor Rules for Via Ferrata Havranka.
Operator: Českokrumlovské ferraty, z.s., Přísečná 1, 38101 Přísečná, Czech Republic
Visitor: A visitor is any person who has entered "Via Ferrata Havraní skála" (hereinafter "ferrata") or is present in the area of its entry, route, or exit points.
General Rules:
Climbing on the ferrata is at one's own risk. Climbing involves the risk of falls and falling rocks, which can lead to serious injury or death.
This ferrata is intended for experienced climbers equipped with proper ferrata gear and a climbing helmet.
Inexperienced climbers are only allowed on the ferrata when accompanied by an experienced climber, who assumes personal responsibility for them during the climb.
The operator prohibits any "experienced" climber (such as an instructor, guide, or experienced companion) from leading more than four inexperienced individuals at once. (Managing a larger group of beginners or children can be challenging and unsafe for all ferrata users.)
Prohibitions:
Climbing without proper protection or outside the designated route marked by the safety cable is prohibited. (Such behavior endangers both yourself and others below you on the ferrata.)
Entry for individuals under 15 is prohibited without the supervision of a responsible adult.
Camping and open fires are not allowed. Commercial activities by guides, instructors, or travel agencies are prohibited without the operator's written consent. Commercial entities must pay a maintenance fee of 25 CZK per client to support the upkeep of the route and approach paths. (Those using the ferrata commercially are required to contribute to its maintenance.)
Audio-visual recordings for commercial or promotional purposes require operator approval. (Commercial users are also expected to contribute to ferrata maintenance.)
It is forbidden to install new fixed safety elements, alter existing cables, or modify anchor points.
Entry under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicants is strictly prohibited.
Visitor Responsibilities:
Visitors must familiarize themselves with these rules before entering Via Ferrata Havranka.
Visitors must use proper ferrata equipment, including a harness, ferrata lanyard, and a climbing helmet.
Visitors must follow safe climbing practices. Climbers must secure themselves on both cables while on the bridge; we recommend using a resting sling here. Children shorter than 140 cm may only enter the bridge if accompanied by an adult, as they may not be able to reach the safety cables. Only one person is permitted on the bridge at a time.
When climbing with lighter children (under 40 kg), additional belaying with a climbing rope is required.
If you notice damage to the ferrata's infrastructure (such as loose anchors or fallen trees obstructing the path), return along the route, warn other climbers, and notify the operator immediately.
Safe Climbing Principles:
Always carry the carabiners ahead of your hand while climbing.
When reaching an anchor, secure yourself first before holding on above it.
While switching carabiners, always remain secured with one carabiner.
At all times on the ferrata, climbers must be secured with two carabiners.
Always check the carabiner closure before proceeding.
In vertical sections, maintain sufficient spacing between climbers to avoid injury in case of a fall.
An experienced climber should climb first, allowing them to assist a less experienced climber below.
Agree in advance on the location and method of passing other climbers to avoid any danger.
Remain secured while passing other climbers.
For difficult ferratas, attempt your first ascent with an experienced climber who can offer guidance and support.
Before starting, check that your equipment is properly fastened and operational.
When climbing with a heavy backpack, use an appropriate attachment method.
If using a lanyard, unclip it in vertical sections.
Do not leave the designated route or the safety cable.
Keep a safe distance from climbers who are not following safety rules.
Be respectful of other climbers and the natural environment.
Take all your waste with you, including hygiene products.
Do not enter the route if there is a risk of thunderstorms, frost, or ice.
Don't hesitate to ask for help or advice when needed.
Avoid climbing alone; always have someone nearby who can call for help if necessary.
Operator Rights:
The operator is not responsible for injuries or damage caused by the inherent risks of climbing ferratas.
The operator is not liable for any personal belongings left on or near the ferrata.
The operator reserves the right to expel anyone from the ferrata who violates the rules, disregards safety practices, or endangers other visitors or the ferrata's infrastructure.
We wish you many beautiful experiences!
